Can marijuana actually help fight cancer?

We’ve all heard that marijuana can be used to lessen the pain caused by cancer, hence the push to legalize so-called medical marijuana.

But a new study now proposes that Cannabidiol, or CBD, a non-toxic, non-psychoactive chemical compound can actually stop the cancer cells from spreading and return them back to normal. According to the Daily Beast, the anti-cancer properties of THC have been studied for several decades, but two scientists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco are actually awaiting permission to conduct clinical trials to prove their research.

They started by researching Cannabidiol’s effects on breast cancer but found that it works with many kinds of aggressive cancers, including brain and prostate.

But it takes more than just lighting up a joint. The doses used on animal studies were potent concentrations that were synthesized in the lab as opposed from being derived from the plant.
