Steelhead success on Twenty Mile, Walnut creeks

Jonathon Freeman, of Buffalo, N.Y., caught a 24-inch hen steelhead at Walnut Creek Access Area using sucker spawn. He caught another on skein, and both were landed on an ultralight rig spooled with 4-pound test. Great Lakes Steelhead Expo Saturday in Erie

A reminder that the second annual Great Lakes Steelhead Expo is scheduled for Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 pm. at Rainbow Gardens, 3100 West Lake Road. Raccoon Creek Park improvements under way

An improvement project for at Raccoon Creek Park broke ground today at the 195-acre site in Springfield Township. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources said it has invested $152,000 through its Community Conservation Partnerships Program, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Coastal Zone Management Program is providing $136,000.
